Your first visit

A typical acupuncture appointment lasts four about an hour.  Your first visit may take a little longer to fill out various forms, as well as allow your doctor time to perform a detailed analysis of your condition. 

Returning Visits

Depending on your ailment, you may be asked to return for weekly or bi-weekly treatments until you finish an entire treatment course. 

Typically, for every year you have had a condition, you can expect one month for treatment. However, your treatment course may be shorter depending on specific circumstances.

Your doctor will discuss your treatment course with you and how long it may be expected.

What Happens During a Treatment?

Every practitioner has his or her own style, but each session typically includes a detailed medical history, assessment of your current condition, an exam and insertion of needles. 

Your doctor may also utilize other therapies such as moxabustion, Tui Na and Herbal and Dietary suggestions. 

The exam consists of taking your pulse, looking at your tongue, and palpating specific acupuncture points.
